Last Saturday night (April 12), the Kings Beach Tavern nearly skanked off its foundations when the Sunny Coast Rude Boys hit the stage. If you weren’t there, your feet are probably still sad. These local legends turned Caloundra into a ska-soaked dancefloor, blending classic Jamaican grooves with enough brass to make your grandma start a mosh pit. The horns were loud, some were in the audience, some writhing around on the stage floor, the beats were tight, and the vibes were sky-high. I thought I'd caught a glimpse of Wayne's haggis as he sailed through the air sporting Doc Martens, a Scottish kilt and a trombone!

They played a punchy 2hr set with everything from The Specials, to Madness, UB40, Bad Manners, a bit of old school Jamaican ska with 'Simmer Down', Ska'd up versions of Paul Kelly's 'Dumb Things, The Clash's 'Rock The Casbah' and a slew of well crafted originals including 'Feels Good' , 'RudeBoy TakeOver' and 'Moonlight' were the icing on this crazy cake! Rumor has it someone’s loafers caught fire mid-ska—true story (probably).

But don’t worry if you missed it—redemption awaits! The Rudies are serving up a family-friendly, all-ages gig at Solbar in Maroochydore at 2pm Sunday arvo, June 15. That’s right, now your kids can learn how to skank properly while you nurse a pint and pretend your knees still work.
And if you thought that was big, wait for this: the band is heading to the UK at the end of June for their debut international tour! They're bringing Sunshine Coast Vibes, Ska, and a bit of Aussie cheek to St Albans, Coventry, London, and Margate. DATES HERE
If you have mates in Melbourne or Sydney - Tell 'em to come see the show on 30th & 31st May!
But seriously... watch out, Britain—they're coming in hot with trumpets blazing!!
