Ska Date: 8/9/23 Kenilworth Kickass Music and Camping Festival
The long anticipated second Kickass Music Festival went off with a bang on the 8th and 9th September at the Kenilworth Showgrounds. Needless to say, the Sunny Coast Rude Boys brought their ‘A’ game with a huge eight piece horn section and their usual lively antics and infectious energy. After blistering sets by our friends from BEARFOOT and also FAT PICNIC,
the crowd had really come to dance and the Rudeez did not disappoint! Unleashing a combination of covers and originals which have become genre-defining in current Australian Ska music, with three 'Rude girls' on saxophone and our mowhawked kilt donning trombone player bouncing around the stage. The audience had no choice but to join in the fun and work up a sweat during the hour long set. Fuelled by espresso martinis and unbridled enthusiasm the Rude Boys garnered huge appreciation from the crowd and the festival organisers alike. Sound and lights were cracking!
Big shout out to Klaeton and his crew for looking after us with drinks, great food and attentive Green Room assistants. Some great photos posted by Kim Grimley on our website and FB page. Skank on!
Don’t forget upcoming gigs on the Sunny Coast:
Solbar (Maroochydore) ; 28/10/23
See you there!
