Queensland tour with Death of Guitar Pop
Ska Date 3 Feb 2023: Vinnie’s Dive Bar welcomes DOGP (Death Of Guitar Pop) and SCRB on the hottest, most humid day of summer.
Vinnie’s is an old punk dive with a small stage and no close parking so the roadies and musos were soaked before they hit the stage.
The Rudies get everyone dancing and DOGP rip out their first Australian gig in the ‘hottest’ (literally) venue on the Gold Coast. These boys have just come from 2 degrees in Essex and still look cool and unperspirated unlike the 10 piece Aussie band known as SCRB. 21st century Ska history right there.
Ska Date 4th Feb 2023 The Triffid
This is the ultimate Brisneyland litmus test of the young and old of Ska faithful. They come from far and wide to see the perpetuation and evolution of Ska music. Ska is the bollocks, Right? With great sound and lighting, we faarkin frothed the lathered crowd. They sang, they danced and even sang the words to our first released song ‘Way Down’; an eye opener for sure.
DOGP opened with ‘Skinhead Reggae’ and the whole room was transformed into a bouncing mass of skank. The boys didn’t stop for 90 minutes belting out their hits ’69 Candy Street’, ‘Ska is the Bollocks’ ‘Cinderella’s Fella’ (my favourite) and the latest hit ‘Bosch’. Silky, Top Cat and Guitar George reluctantly exited the stage after two encores leaving a crowd of whistling, screaming fans baying for more.
Ska Date 5th Feb 2023 Solbar Maroochydore
In typical Rudies style they warmed up the loyal local Sunny Coast crowd with equal amounts of adrenalin and enthusiasm. DOGP smashed out another set of their uniquely crafted Ska-Pop with well synchronized rhythm guitars, George’s electrifying solos and Silky’s clever snarling vocals. Top Cat was his usual ‘cool’ self.
After three Qld gigs in three days the Ska Army finally rested in anticipation of the interstate tour on the 10th, 11th and 12th of Feb. Until then, Ska is the Bollocks! VOLUME 2 coming soon!
Were you there? Did You Likey?
